He grew up

He was this little kid once,
Mesmerized with unwordly imaginations
Seemingly caring least about what was next
Living the time of his life.

Age taught him responsibilities
Experience became his teacher
Not everything was fantasy after all
The realization had struck, and struck hard.

Caring about a family to live for
Putting their interests before him
Seeing happy faces filled his heart with delight,
He had finally grown up.

Its never easy to be one,
For distractions too often walk the same paths,
Debauchery, always an option
And the society, not extremely supportive.

The struggle was consistently fierce
Eyes regarded him with sadistic contempt,
Yet the need was to march on
For that is what truly matters.
In this world of high disregard,
You may lose a battle, but you got to win the war.
